Sedation Dentistry for Dental Work

Sedation Dentistry for Dental Work

Do dental procedures terrify you? You’re not alone… but you don’t have to be afraid! We have an example for you of a very fearful individual who had a root canal, filling, dental crown and a deep cleaning all in one appointment!

Sedation Dentistry is very effective and offered at Mint Hill Dentistry! The individual from this particular case was terrified and visibly upset when they arrived to the office. They also hadn’t been to the dentist for a very long time. The medications used in Sedation Dentistry produce a profound sense of relaxation, allowing you to actually relax. This helps with two things:

  • Safer, more predictable and better quality dentistry on an upset individual
  • Longer appointments to be completed in one visit

Sedation and Safety

All of our doctors at Mint Hill Dentistry have extensive residency training in Sedation Dentistry. Before a patient is able to receive sedation, they are required to be seen for a consultation to asses the health history in detail and be sure each person is a candidate.

Sedation safety and dental monitoring

During the sedation procedure, all patients are continuously monitored using advanced technology such as Capnography and Pulse Oximetry.

Sedation Dentistry Case Review

CT imaging to diagnose an infection

Our doctor used our advanced 3D Imaging CT Scan to diagnose an infection, which was the source of this particular persons pain. This person elected to have all of the treatments done in one day to be able to cover everything at one time while being able to be under sedation.

The Root Canal

Root canal

The first picture is an intra-oral picture showing the root canal system of the painful tooth. Once the canals are cleaned and disinfected, they are then sealed off so the bacteria cannot make its way back in the tooth.

The second picture is the X-Ray image showing what the completed root canal look like.

The Crown

Crown designed and milled

Using State-of-the-Art CAD/CAM technology the doctor can design and mill the crown in the office while the patient is sedated! (To find out more about this technology click here). The X-Ray photo shows the crown on the tooth.

All of the pain this individual experienced was solved in one visit, while they were sedated. The result was a much improved mouth with no continuing tooth pain.

If you have a question about the sedation options available at our office we are happy to schedule a consultation with one of our doctors. You can learn more about Sedation Dentistry we offer by clicking here.
