CEREC Same-Day Crowns

What is CEREC?

CEREC is technology that allows our dentists to prepare a tooth for a crown, scan the tooth digitally and then make the crown in the office. This allows for the entire crown procedure to be completed in ONE VISIT. Since this procedure is done in one visit, a temporary crown is NOT needed when CEREC is used. The patient leaves with their final restoration that day, and can eat dinner the same night without worrying about a temporary crown breaking or coming loose.

Benefits of CEREC Crowns

Since the entire process for creating the crown is digital, the “tray full of goo” is NOT needed. Many patients that have a bad gag reflex, or that have difficult anatomy, will benefit from not needing to have traditional impressions made. In addition, CEREC allows the dentist to choose from a variety of different materials depending on the needs of the case. It also gives the dentist full control over all aspects of the case – from tooth preparation, to digital restoration design, to custom characterization and glazing of the final crown for optimal esthetics.
